CLASSROOM INFORMATION
Sessions 1 & 2:  6/8/26 - 6/25/26
Session 1: 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Session 2: 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Week 1 (6/8 - 6/11): Monday through Thursday
Week 2 (6/16 - 6/19): Tuesday through Friday
Week 3 (6/22 - 6/25): Monday through Thursday
(27 Hours of Classroom Time Required by the DLD)

REGISTRATION MATERIALS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE ONLY!!!  PLEASE PRINT YOUR OWN COPIES FROM THE WEBSITE!  COPIES WILL NOT BE MADE BY THE MAIN OFFICE STAFF & ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE MAIN OFFICE!  THANKS.

NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
*) BRING YOUR LEARNER PERMIT TO THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.
1) On 6/11/26 the Classroom Times will be adjusted to accommodate for the required Zero Fatalities Parent/Teen Morning...
     SESSION 1: 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
     SESSION 2: 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.
2) Each student and at least one parent/guardian are REQUIRED to attend our Zero Fatalities Parent/Teen Morning during their Summer Session on 6/11/26 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
3) 6/25/26 is a RANGE ONLY day.  Students will NOT attend class on that day, but if they are scheduled for a Range, they should attend the Range drive.  If a student missed a day, then they will do the make-up for Session 1 from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. or for Session 2 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
4) On 6/25/26, if students have NO ABSENCES before that date, then they will not be required to attend.  They will have met the 27 hours of class time requirement by then.  
(Only ONE absence is allowed during Summer Driver Education.  2 or more absences will result in FAILING the class.)

ROAD & RANGE DRIVE INFORMATION

DRIVER EDUCATION ROAD DRIVES:
YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL CONTACT YOU FOR ROAD DRIVES.  
4 Road Drives are Required to obtain a Utah Driver License.  After the 4th Road drive a 5th drive, the Road Skills Test, will be scheduled with the student.
ROAD DRIVES ARE SCHEDULED BY LEARNER PERMIT 6-MONTH ELIGIBILITY DATES.  THOSE WHO ARE NEAR OR PAST THE 6-MONTH ELIGIBILITY DATE WILL BE SCHEDULED FIRST.
IF YOU ARE NOT CONTACTED AND FEEL YOU SHOULD HAVE, GIVEN THE ABOVE CRITERIA, TEXT COACH HAWKINS AT 801-598-5936 AND HE WILL HELP YOU COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR ROAD DRIVE INSTRUCTOR.

DRIVER EDUCATION RANGES:
Students are scheduled for 3 (three) 2-hour Ranges (see the Range Schedule below).

Welcome to Herriman High Summer Driver Education 2026.  Three (3) Range Drives are required for obtaining your driver license.  Below is the Range Schedule and Group Assignments for your Sessions.  Find your Name/Group #, then refer to the Group # to find the Dates and Times that you should attend.  The Range Drives are held in the South parking lot at Herriman High School.

Summer Ranges 2026 – Session 2

Welcome to Herriman High Summer Driver Education 2026.  Three (3) Range Drives are required for obtaining your driver license.  Below is the Range Schedule and Group Assignments for your Session.  Find your Name/Group #, then refer to the Group # to find the Dates and Times that you should attend.  The Range Drives are held in the South parking lot at Herriman High School.

Things parents should know:

  • Your son/daughter may obtain a learner permit at the age of 15.
  • They must carry a learner permit for six (6) months before being able to apply for a driver license at the age of 16.
  • Must complete a driver education course after the learner permit is issued.
  • Must complete the online Traffic Safety and Trends Exam and pass with 100% before license can be issued.
  • Pass an eye testwritten knowledge test, and driving skills test.
  • Complete 40 hours of driving with parent (10 after sunset.) Parents, click here for helpful information on how to teach your teen to drive.
  • Parent must sign for financial responsibility until son/daughter is age 18.  Parent can withdraw their signature at any time and for any reason, which would cancel your minor’s driver license.  Call our Customer Service with questions at 801.965.4437.
  • Your minor driver younger than 17 cannot drive in Utah between 12:00 am, and 5:00 am; some exceptions are stated above.
  • Your minor driver that is 16 or 17 may not drive with any passengers who are not an immediate family member until six (6) months from the date the license was issued, “no driving with friends for the first six (6) months.
  • Your minor driver cannot operate a motorcycle until they have tested and received a motorcycle endorsement.

SHORT CHECKLIST FOR OBTAINING A UTAH DRIVER LICENSE:

*    Classroom Requirement - Complete 27 hours of classroom time and pass the class.  (3 Absences or less during the school year / 1 Absence or less during Summer Driver Education)

        - Cost: $140 ($160 in the Summer).

*    Range Driving - Complete 3 Range Drive sessions.

        - Each Range session is 2 hours.

        - Ranges are held in the South parking lot at Herriman High School by appointment.

*    Road Driving - Complete 5 Road Drive sessions (or equivalent to meet the BEHIND-THE-WHEEL and OBSERVATION hour requirements). 

        - Includes 3 hours behind-the-wheel and 6 hours of observation time with an instructor

        - 4 Practice Drives + 1 Road Skills Test Drive.

        - Must Pass the Road Skill Test with an instructor.

        - Mr. Hawkins must see the student's current Learner Permit & the $140/$160 Driver Education Class Fee Receipt from the Herriman High main office before Road Driving with an instructor will be scheduled.

*    Complete the Traffic Safety & Trends Exam as required by the DLD.

*    Complete the 40 practice hours of driving with parent/guardian (10 hours of the 40 hours should be night/dark hours).

*    Be at least 16 years old.

*    Have your Learner Permit for at least 6 months.
